Still a ripoff August 23, 2010 markgraf (NY) I have never been able to see a significant difference between this and other HDMI cables except when it comes to price. I have never spent more than $6 or so on an HDMI cable and have never had a bad product. They have all done the job they claim they will do for more than twenty times less cost than a Monster cable.

HDMI is a digital interface. Digital signals don't give a single solitary damn about the name on the cables.
The only possible reason for giving these things a five star review is that you spent the cash and you need to convince yourself that you aren't dumb as a fence post.
Buy the $2 cables, they work exactly as well. Unless it's worth $130 to you to have the name on the cable.

Please please heed the advice of the other reviewers and do not sink your money into these worthless cables. The $7 alternative works just fine and functions identically !!
Monster is not a ripoff .....Do your homework on HDMI cables before buying July 20, 2010 Anthony J. Frabotta 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
After reading multiple reviews on this HDMI cable from Monster, as well as, many other HDMI cables with extremely mixed reviews; it became apparent to me I needed to learn & understand how to differentiate between the types/brands of HDMI cable offered.
After a brief visit to [...], I was able to understand HDMI clearer. Higher transfer speed cables are needed for specific hardware that you are using (i.e. cable/satellite boxes w/HD service requires 10.2 GPS speed & BluRay player needs 14.2 GPS transfer speeds). So after reading many mixed reviews from angry buyers complaining of overpaying, I finally understood why.
With this said, the best advice I can give anyone looking for a HDMI cable is to understand that pending on what application/device you are using will allow you to know what kind of cable you will need. Although Monster brand cables are usually priced much more expensive than others; if you shop around can be found for under $50 (i.e on amazon from reputable dealers selling open boxed and/or repackaged).
A great buy if you can find it for the right price July 8, 2010 SKYTZO 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This review is for the 8 foot cable
I agree with most of the reviewers point of only a dumba$$ would pay obscene amounts of money for a HDMI cable that really doesn't make a lot of difference, that being said this is a great cable that does make some difference and if found at the right price is a must buy. I personally bought mine brand new from a seller in the Amazon marketplace for $19.90, how they afforded to sell it for that I do not know. It was labeled Refurbished and truthfully it may have been but when it arrived it was unopened in the original factory box and when I replaced the original cable I'd been given by Direct TV I noticed a difference immediately. Now I'm not sure what the grade or level of the cable direct TV gives out with there extreamly expensive HD DVR's is, but this cable definitely made a difference. I wouldn't recommend paying the $200 Amazon says the stores sell it for and I would recommend paying the $132.74 Amazon has it on sale for either, but the low low price of 19.90 I payed for mine I definitely recommend if you can fined it for that you buy. I gave this a 4 star rating due to the high price most places try to sell this for, it's not easy finding a Monster cable of this quality for cheap, It gave the Quality of the cable 5 stars but the price and value for your money both 3 due to the high price I've seen attached to this cable.
