Product Description It's something better than a Blu-ray player when you can stream thousands of movies, videos and shows direct to your TV from CinemaNow and other streaming entertainment on the Internet. Junk fell apart only 90 day warranty...done with LG July 28, 2010 Brett 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My LG is 8 months old and stopped reading disc. Called their service department and they want to charge me $70 for a new player becuse there is only a 90 day warranty. This is the last LG prodcut I will ever buy. Poor product quality and terrible warranty and service.
Heed the warnings! July 26, 2010 Rodney Mitchell 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you only need a blu-ray player to work for 8 months, then this is tailor made for you. But if you are like the rest of us, then heed the warnings and stay far away from this. I hate to beat a dead horse, but as per other similar reviews, this player will stop working properly after 8 months. I bought this in December on black friday. Needless to say I froze my buttocks off to get it at a decent price. But now that I realize this thing is a piece of crap, I thought it my duty to warn other people. I can't play any regular DVD, or older Blu-Ray disc, and the newer blu-rays are not playing properly. They skip, break up, and pause. I wish I had skipped, broke up, or paused before buying this junk. According to the other reviews, I won't be able to play anything soon enough and will have to buy a new player. If you like throwing money away, and need new things every few months, than this is the poster child for defective products.
piece of junk stopped reading discs at 8 months, LG charges $69 bucks plus shipping to fix it July 3, 2010 kinch 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Enjoyed my player for 8 months. It was well cared for and only occasionally used to play discs. One day, it wouldn't play one of my DVDs, giving a "no disc" error; I chalked it up to the disc. A couple of days later and it wouldn't play *any* disc, blu-ray or DVD. LG wants me to spend $69 for labor (plus shipping) to get it fixed. I will not be giving any more money to LG.
This product sucks! Stay away from it! June 30, 2010 Mark Twain (New Orleans, LA USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Everything worked very well until about 8 month after purchase, it started having trouble plaing blu-ray discs, especially the lastest ones, my wife told me she couldn't watch Avatar, but when I tried it seemed OK, so I dismissed her complaint. A few weeks later when I played the Road, it froze multiple times and could hardly go through. The problem was getting worse and worse until it finally stopped playing any blu-ray around 9 months! The Netflix streaming and Youtube still work fine but that's not much use to me, a blu-ray player's primary job is to play blu-ray discs! I called LG, and they said they will charge $70 for labor or parts (one of them, I don't remember). I read some other reviews and realize that many other customers had same problems. It's a manufacturing defect and that how LG is! I'll never buy another LG product!
Great BR Player for the Price June 11, 2010 RKM (Sedona, AZ USA) We bought this Blu-ray player for two basic reasons: 1) To have Blu-ray capability, and 2) Because it allows access to Netflix Instant Movies. We are still using a Mitsubishi 55" TV that is several years old, so I can't rate the LG's ability to render HD video. However, the standard video rendition is excellent so I have no reason to believe that the HD rendition wouldn't be, too. I should also note that, because of our older TV, we are using the component video connections rather than the HDMI. I'm looking forward to updating the TV to an HD set soon, and I'm sure we'll notice an improvement.
The Netflix connection was easy to set up, and once it's set access is just a button push away. I followed LG's advice and connected the player to our LAN with a wired Ethernet connection rather than a wireless one and we've never had a problem with streaming movies. In addition to Netflix, the BD 370 allows access to your own home movies/videos, photo and music collections, Cinema Now (with subscription) and YouTube via an Ethernet connection. I have viewed YouTube videos with the BD 370 and they play well.
Bottom line: This is a great Blu-ray player for $150.
