5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Freaking Awesome besides S Air thing   May 5, 2010

I bought this baby last week for my new home. As usual i got the issue of S Air. I initially bought a Dynex HDMI from Best Buy for $30. i was using to pair up with that. It did not work.

Here are the most issues that everyone get.
1)I called technical support and they asked me to try with the s-video cable that they sent me. It worked, but not an awesome video not a good audio. So i was not happy

2) i then tried setting the pixel to 480p with HDMI. It worked too, but again picture was not good. So, tech support asked me to get some new wire.

3) Someone suggested saying keep your S Air unit close to main unit and before piaring press the pair button on the back of unit. I did that with my Dynex HDMI cable. It did not work either.

4) I wrapped my Dynex HDMI cables with Aluminium wraps , it did not work either.

Final Solution :

I went to best buy looking for Triple Shielded cable. I saw a Monster cable(59.99) and Rocket Fish cable (59.99).
Monster cable looks awesome in thickness so bought it and i went home and plugged... HURRAY it worked.....my living room is very big , i kept my 50" Sony Bravia LCD at one corner and i am sitting at other corner may be like 15-20 feet away. And kept the S Air unit on the corner with speakers at either end of my couch. This nice shielded HDMI cable is taking care of it. And picture quality is sooo amazing with these cables.

I bought a AVATAR blue ray at best buy and oh my...it rocks !!!!!!

I did not bother calling tech support for signal booster. So for those of you who spent $1000 buying this product, give a $100 for the cable and belive me you wont regret...

Bottom Line : when my friends visited home, they could not belive how i am able to manage the rear speakers without wiring :) and were shocked to see the performance from those tiny speakers...

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME   April 9, 2010

Sony has done it again I cannot believe the range of sound these litte guys put out. I tried Lord of the Rings Mothership (Led Zepp Live) and older movie like Gumball Rally all had sounds I had nver heard before. The hooking up of (pairing) wirless speakers was a breeze. I want to thank the idiots who's reviews made this seem like an issue, you cost me an extra 300.00, it was so simple just turn on. I am even going for the extra surroud to make it 7.1 It is well worth the money and everyone goes "where's the sound coming from!

4 out of 5 stars Just wish it didn't go out of production!   January 7, 2010

I have used the sound system for barely a month, but just love every bit of it.I hope sony comes up with a superior product than this one since they took it out of production.Considering it's features & sound quality,i wanted to purchase another one by the end of the year for my other family. Though it's a bit expensive,i prefer it to the bose because of the blue ray feature and digital sound.

5 out of 5 stars Great System   December 30, 2009

Could not believe the sound form such small speakers. Everything works great and easy to use.

4 out of 5 stars Nice sounding Bluray Home Theater   December 29, 2009
EliasV (Seattle, WA)
I bought this unit regardless all the reviews about the rear speakers not pairing. It's a solvable problem, it's a pity Sony hasn't offered a more hassle-free solution (i.e. shipping the transceiver adaptor when purchasing the unit#

Cons:
- Pairing of rear speakers:
I've experienced the same wireless connectivity issues as all others. When you use a cheap HDMI cable and set the system's output resolution higher than 480i, the rear speakers won't pair. Called Sony, spent 1.5hours for this known issue #ridiculous on Sony's part) and they sent me the transceiver adaptop/extender, which solved the problem. This extender is bulky and adds cable behind your system. Also, I purchased a high quality HDMI cable, and I'm now using the system without Sony's extender. Works perfectly, no problems pairing anymore.

- Lack of features:
It's nice piece of equipment, it should have other online features such as NetFlix etc.

- Speaker size limiting sound:
While the system is really powerful and sounds great, when you listen to your favorite stereo CD the small speakers are not enough to deliver good, clear sound. My music sounds better through $30 headphones.

Pros:
- Main unit looks great
- Speaker size easy to fit anywhere
- 5.1 sound for movies, sports etc. is absolutely awesome
- AFB Multi mode is good for non-5.1 sources: makes the sound come out of all speakers
- Great DVD upscaling

Overall I'm really happy with the system's sound and picture quality. I've had the unit for over a month. I would recommend it especially if you find it on sale.
